The Kidney and Hypertension

Abstract
Although the existence of a relationship between kidney and the blood pressure is well known since Bright' first description in 1836, this relationship is complex, Abnormalities of kidney function can cause hypertension, but can also be the
result
of
hypertension.
The kidney plays a role in blood pressure control through its excretion of water and sodium, regulation of renin-angiotensin system, secretion of hypotensive hormone, and control of interstitial compliance. Lately the major pathogenetic role of
kidney
in essential hypetension was fully investigated but remained undesolved.
Therefore recent advances in renovascular hypertension, renal hypertension and malignant hypertension which causes and consequences are directly related to kidney are summerized in this article.
